“Who Let The Dogs Out?” In San Pedro, Ambergris Caye,Belize

Hi Zig here.

For first time readers (where have you been?) I’m the real cute and good looking one on the right. Oh, and my full name is Ziggy BelizeEast.

I’ve grabbed hold of John’s iPad to let you know what kind of Christmas I had. I was hopeful that Santa Paws would bring me an iPad of my own but I had no such luck. To say I’m gutted would be an understatement. I did get some great presents though but not before we all dressed up in our Christmas gear.

I’ve got to admit it, I only kept it on because it had Arsenal’s badge on it. I wanted a snazzy Christmas T shirt like the rest of them.

Rose (I really, really like her),Geordie, John and Fred.

I quite liked the snowman one that John wore

but I think I would have looked great in the green Elf shirt too!

“You agree, don’t you.”

They all went out on Christmas Eve without me. The last I heard before they disappeared was something about alcohol …

I didn’t mind though because the next day was Christmas Day and time for my presents. But not before they had some more of this alcohol stuff.

Geordie ‘doing the honours’.

And what they described as “a little light breakfast”.

Me? I had some dental sticks. They’re great for keeping my teeth pearly white!

And then it was time for my presents.

“Come on Geordie. Stop teasing me. Get it down off the table”.

A new travel bed for when I stay away from home.

And a new lead

with a matching collar!

Oh, and I also got more treats to add to my ever growing store.

“Beggin Strips? I don’t beg, I just roll my eyes!”

We enjoyed breakfast together and then the four of them set of for lunch and left me to guard our home. It’s my job and as Head of Security for Highbury House I know that it’s a 24/7, 365 day commitment. My time with BATSUB taught me that.

The next day (Boxing Day) was a sad one for all of us. It was time for Geordie to leave us. He’d been with us for nearly a month and I’d got used to playing with him again.

Geordie, John, Rose and Fred having a farewell drink before Geordie got on his plane.

And what about me you’re thinking. Well I was trying out my new bed.

“You’ve got to admit that green is so my colour”.

Rose (she’s the nice one) and John could see that I was feeling a bit down absent Geordie so they asked me if I’d like to go out and so we took a ride in to ‘Town and I was amazed at just how much progress had been made on some of the building developments.

I mean what about the new hotel just south of the Sir Barry Bowen bridge that John told you about November last year.

And the supawmarket across the road.

“I hope it’s going to have a doggy section’.

And the new floor above Mark’s Shopping Center.

A house in Boca Del Rio is ‘growing’ bigger.

And what about the new restaurant and bar near Annie’s Pastries.

Very rojo!

And just across the road another new supawmarket.

“Now this one must have a doggy section”.

While we were out we heard that the San Pedro Town Council is going to enforce the Dog Registration Law. Obviously the ‘Council wants to know who let the dogs out (ouch).

Oh well I’ve got to sign off now and put the iPad back before John discovers I’ve been using it but before I go I just want to wish you all a happy new year. May you get what you deserve in 2016. For me that will mean lots of treats!

The headline for today’s (supaw) edition is based on the single released in 2000 by the Baha Men which reached number two on the UK Singles Charts and number forty on the US Billboard Hot 100.

  1. thanx Ziggy plz keep me posted about how the dog laws actually work in your community. We have some pups with hard lives here in Corozal. their owners put them out without food and they get sick and hit by cars and many other problems. Here we are just trying to do free spay and neuter clinics. kris

  2. Happy New Year Zigster ( I prefer this moniker)… Say hello to John & Rose. See you in late 2016..until then, be good to your folks…

  3. Hey Zigster! Nice to hear from you. Glad you had a Merry Christmas and my wish for you and your family is a Blessed and wonderful New Year full of lots of love, treats and and lots of great adventures! I can see they love you very much and them!
