Rose and I knuckled down this morning to use the tile and wood samples we have to make our final selections for the granite surfaces (kitchens and bathrooms) we want Daniel Camal, our building contractor, to try and match for our build in Ambergris Caye, Belize. We don’t expect exact replicas but do want them to be as close as possible. For the granite choices we once again made use of the very good 1000 Granite Colours website.
With these selections out of the way we now need to finalise the wardrobe and walk-in closets and the internal light positioning and the decisions we have to make are competed. Getting there, slowly but surely.
With the day’s house related tasks out of the way I took the Kindle down to the beach in front of the condo we are renting for a spot of reading and basically not doing a great deal. Very enjoyable.
Just before noon Rose and I set off to drop the golf cart we have been renting in for a service and then walked the short distance to Pedro’s Inn for the lunch he had organised for the all important (well if you are an Arsenal or Tottenham fan that is) Arsenal versus Wigan Premiership game.
It was a nail biting game until Arsenal went in to a two, one lead and then scored two further goals in quick succession to win the game easily. It’s all in the game on Sunday versus Newcastle United now. Arsenal win it and it doesn’t matter what Tottenham do.
Feeling buoyed by the result Rose and I said our goodbyes to everyone, collected the golf cart and headed to our build in Ambergris Caye, Belize and got there around 3.15 pm.
As we pulled in to the lot we saw the ceiling grids stacked on the Ground Floor.
And inside the living/kitchen room of the self-contained apartment the Sheetrock (plasterboard) had been stored ready for use.
Up the stairs to the First Floor where we saw that the guys had started striking the lines for the floors.
Martin at work on the southern veranda.
Nicholas finishing off the line on the eastern veranda.
The lines had already been ‘struck’ in the bedroom (Rose’s handicraft room).
And the western veranda.
A climb up the scaffold and I found Porfelio and Eduardo just finishing laying the floor for the landing that leads to the Master Bedroom.
Porfelio looking for any blemishes.
And having spotted some he set about correcting them.
And then got Eduardo at work with the feather edge.
In Rose’s bathroom Sam and Angel were laying the floor.
Sam at work.
Sam joined by Angel.
By the time I returned to the First Floor Nicholas was busy in the Utility Room.
And he finished the room off with the help of Eduardo who had come down from the Second Floor.
As we were leaving Porfelio and Miguel were preparing the next area for floor laying (the kitchen).
Miguel scraping off loose bits of concrete.
Joined by Porfelio with the broom.
